Two giant pandas will arrive at Finland's Helsinki airport on the 18th of this month. However, Ahtari Zoo says its panda exhibit will only open its doors to the public on February 17th, as the panda pair first needs to undergo a month in quarantine to acclimatize to Finland's local climate and bamboo.
According to the zoo, its snow panda house is all geared up to welcome Jin Baobao and Hua Bao. Special designated areas have been set-up under the guidance of Chinese experts, to accommodate the two pandas. China's gift of pandas to Finland follows a cooperation agreement signed between the two countries last year. A giant panda research and protection project was agreed upon, as part of Chinese President Xi Jinping's official state visit to the Nordic country last year.
