Swiss ambassador to China: Initiative is platform for multilateralism

China will host a collection of world leaders next week for a summit on the Belt and Road Initiative, in which Switzerland is an active player. The president of the Swiss Confederation, Doris Leuthard, will attend the summit in Beijing on May 14 and 15.
Earlier, during an interview, Switzerland's ambassador to China, Jean-Jacques de Dardel, talked about his ideas on the initiative which he thinks is not only an initiative but also a strategy for openness.
Switzerland has been developing closer ties with China. Both countries are strong advocates of economic globalization, under the background of increasingly protectionist sentiments from other nations.
