Many students killed in freak tree accident at Ghana waterfall

Up to 20 people were killed and several others injured after a huge tree fell on tourists and revelers on Sunday afternoon at a popular waterfall spot in Kintampo, west Ghana.
Most of the deceased are reported to be senior high school students who were on an excursion, and were swimming beneath the fall when a rainstorm accompanied by strong wind and thunder forced the tree to fall on top of them.
There are currently differing reports on the number of casualties. 
Xinhua News Agency reported the death toll was 18, citing a police officer named Desmond Oppong Boanu. 
According to AFP reports, the Ghana National Fire Service spokesman Prince Billy Anaglate said that 18 students had died at the scene, while two others died in hospital.
Local reports say about 18 people are in a very critical condition, and have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
