China says it appreciates the courage by the Japanese to reveal and reflect on historical facts.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying made the comments at a daily briefing, when asked about a documentary aired by Japanese public broadcaster NHK. The documentary shows the atrocities inflicted by Unit 731 on Chinese people during World War Two. Unit 731 was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Japanese army. They secretly conducted live-body experiments. Last August, NHK also showed a documentary on Unit 731.
