WikiLeaks said it had obtained a batch of documents, purportedly from the CIA, detailing the tools the security agency used to hack into phones, communication apps and other electronic devices.
The organization claimed the US intelligence agency was able to bypass encryption on popular messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal, by hacking phones using Google's Android platform to collect audio and messages before encryption was applied.
The contents of the documents could not immediately be authenticated and the CIA has yet to make a comment.
