The daughter of ousted South Korean president Park Geun-hye's close friend Choi Soon-sil has now taken center stage in the ongoing saga surrounding Park. She has begun an appeals process over the decision by Danish prosecutors to extradite her for an investigation.
The move came immediately after the Danish prosecution said it would send her back to South Korea to face investigation. But no date for an appeal was immediately set.
Chung is accused of receiving inappropriate academic and financial favors in connection with her mother's close ties to Park. She was arrested in Aalborg, northern Denmark, in January on an international warrant. Her mother Choi is currently standing trial for meddling in state affairs and amassing profits through her relationship with the former leader.
