The Syrian opposition will not attend a peace conference that Russia is hosting in Sochi next week. A spokesman for the opposition delegation to the U.N.-brokered peace talks in Vienna made the announcement on Saturday. The opposition believe the Syrian government and Russia haven't provided the necessary commitments. The spokesperson also said the Sochi conference is just an attempt to undermine the United Nations efforts. Earlier, a new round of peace talks over Syria began on Thursday in Vienna. But there was no sign the warring sides had met. Previous rounds of UN-sponsored talks have made little progress.
