Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcoming ceremony hosted by his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto in front of the Presidential Palace in Helsinki on Wednesday morning local time as he began his three-day visit to Finland.
It is the first visit by a Chinese president to the Nordic country in 22 years. President Xi will meet President Niinisto and Prime Minister Juha Sipila to talk about bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern.
After the visit, President Xi will travel to Florida for his first meetings with his US counterpart Donald Trump on Thursday and Friday.
