At least 22 dead in house fire in China's Jiangsu

As of 10:45 a.m. local time, at least 22 people were killed and three others were wounded after a residential house caught fire in east China's Jiangsu Province on Sunday, said local authorities.

The accident took place at around 4:30 a.m. local time in a two-storey residential house in Yushan Town in Changshu City.

It is reported that the house is a restaurant accommodation where more than 20 people lived.

Since last year, local residents had complained in online forums that there was potential safety hazard in the house.

The fire has been put out and an investigation on the cause of the incident is underway.
