Hong Kong’s Chief Executive-elect Carrie Lam will go to Beijing on Sunday, April 9, to accept her formal appointment by the central government as the special administrative region’s fourth leader, according to local media reports.
She is expected to meet with Premier Li Keqiang, who will hand her the appointment.
China's State Council last Friday appointed Lam as the new chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
She will take office on July 1.
Lam won the HKSAR chief executive election on March 26 with the support of 777 of the 1,194 members of the Hong Kong Election Committee.
