The Chinese Embassy to Vietnam has made donations to a rural school in the country's northeastern Cao Bang province.
"The non-refundable aid, worth 1 million Chinese yuan (around 150,000 US dollars), is part of our initiatives to help Vietnam improve its educational infrastructure, which will eventually support poverty eradication in the country," said Zhang Lianyou, Counselor from the embassy during a donation ceremony in the capital Hanoi on Friday.
Cao Bang province borders China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the school which received the donation is in Son Lap Commune, Bao Lac District.

"Thank you for your meaningful and precious present to Cao Bang," said the region's Department Head of Foreign Affairs, Nong Van Chan, saying the province will use the donation to benefit its people.
The donation will help provide better education to ethnic minorities who account for the majority of the district's population and promote economic and social development, said Chan.
It's not the first time the Chinese embassy to Vietnam has donated money to local school. 221,000 US dollars was given to schools in central Quang Tri province in 2014 while schools in northern Lai Chau received 120,000 US dollars in 2016.
