Animal welfare personnel are concerned for the health of a baby elephant with a wounded leg spotted in Kangpin County in southwest China's Yunnan Province. A team used a drone to observe the elephant on Friday, but they were unable to get up close to offer treatment because it was protected by the herd.
Professor Chen Mingyong from Yunnan University said the baby will be unable to survive in the wild. Team members are keeping a close watch on the wounded elephant as they consider further action.
