China holds a constant and clear stance on opposing the DPRK conducting nuclear tests, said spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hua Chunying on Monday.
Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have been on the rise after media reports emerged alleging that Pyongyang is preparing for a sixth nuclear test, the scale of which is estimated to be over 10 times the previous one.
Last year, the DPRK said it conducted two successful nuclear tests, one in January and the other in December. The latter is believed to be the country’s strongest so far. Both tests sparked global condemnation and criticism, and were followed by further tightening of sanctions against the DPRK.
Hua said that any action that may increase the tension on the Korean Peninsula tension is not acceptable, calling on relevant parties to refrain from any provocative actions and assume their own responsibility.
