New Zealand Final Election Results: National Party loses two seats in 120-seat Parliament

New Zealand's Electoral Commission has declared the official results of the country's general election. An outright winner is still pending after the vote on September 23rd ended in a stalemate between the ruling party and opposition coalition.

The results show Prime Minister Bill English's National Party has 56 seats, leaving it short of a majority in New Zealand's 120-seat Parliament. The deadlock leaves the far-right New Zealand First Party holding the balance of power, with its nine seats likely to be crucial in forming a coalition government.

However, Labor Party leader Jacinta Ardern could still form a government, if a coalition deal can be reached with both its Green Party allies and another group.
