Turkish warplanes and artillery have seized Mount Barsaya near the Kurdish town of Afrin in northwest Syria. The mountain overlooks the towns of Kilis and Azaz.
Despite souring relations with Washington, President Erdogan has threatened to expand the offensive against the YPG to Manbij, east of Afrin. US President Trump has called on Erdogan to "de-escalate" his forces' assault on Afrin. On Saturday Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, urged the US to "immediately withdraw" its personnel from Kurdish-held Manbij.
Turkey launched operation "Olive Branch" on January 20th against the YPG in Afrin, which Turkey brands as a terror group that has received support from the US.
