The German Foreign Ministry has said it still cannot verify a video thought to show the beheading of a German hostage in the Philippines. The brief video, reportedly released by Abu Sayyaf extremists, is the first sign the brutal militants killed the hostage in the country's south. 

However, military officials there said they had not yet found the German's body. Abu Sayyaf, which has been blamed for the worst terror attacks in Philippine history, had demanded a ransom of 600,000 US dollars be paid by Sunday to spare the 70-year-old.
