In Spain, Catalonia has postponed the election of a new regional president. It comes after the country's highest court said the sole nominee, separatist leader Carles Puigdemont, was ineligible while he remains a fugitive from justice in Belgium. Catalan parliament speaker Roger Torrent insisted the former president was the only viable candidate to lead Catalonia, and said he would reconvene the session once Spanish authorities guaranteed they "wouldn't interfere" in the election.
