Senior US officials will visit South Korea starting Monday for talks on deploying the THAAD anti-missile system.
US Under Secretary of State Thomas Shannon will arrive in Seoul on Tuesday, and Acting Assistant Secretary for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Anita Friedt will also travel to South Korea and Japan from Monday to Friday.
The visits follow South Korean President Moon Jae-in's suspension of the deployment of THAAD until a full environmental assessment is completed. The DPRK has called on South Korea to reverse the decision to deploy THAAD and remove all components of the system that have already arrived.
