Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday extended congratulations to Hassan Rouhani on his victory in Iran's presidential election.
In a congratulatory message, President Xi said Iran had made great achievements in social and economic development under the leadership of President Rouhani over the past four years. The two countries have maintained a good momentum of development, he added.
Xi also reviewed his visit to Iran last year, saying the two sides reached consensus over bilateral relations after in-depth talks and established a comprehensive strategic partnership.
"We attach great importance to China-Iran relations and are willing to work with Iran to push forward the comprehensive strategic partnership," Xi said.
Rouhani, Iran's incumbent president, has been re-elected with 57 percent of the vote.
