Now for a look at China's monetary policies. The governor of the People's Bank of China says the central bank will maintain prudent monetary policies and reasonable loan growth in 2018. Governor Zhou Xiaochuan said in a new year's message Sunday that among other things, the PBOC strengthened macro-economic controls and reduced systemic financial risks in 2017. Zhou said that in the coming year the central bank will continue its prudent policies while maintaining reasonable monetary credit and social financing growth. The governor also said that the PBOC would use policy tools to keep liquidity reasonably stable and enhance finance reforms in key areas.
