Sports Scene moves to the golf course, and the opening event of 2018 --- the tournament of Champions. Marc Leishman was the man to catch after the opening round, thanks to eight birdies on his way to a 6-under 67 -- yes it's a par 73. But on day two the Australian would have plenty of company atop the leaderboard.
This is Pat Perez on the 17th hole, going for eagle, but he ends just off the mark, regardless, he gets the easy tap-in for birdie and moves into a tie for the lead at 8-under, where he finishes his round.
Brian Harman, who came into the round a shot off the pace, is well off the green, but gets this shot to land in for a birdie, and he jumps to minus-9 and has the lead.
World Number one, Dustin Johnson also in contention, and he is about a 100 feet from the hole, and he gets the ball tight to the cup -- inches from the pin, and he also gets to 9-under.
Back to Harman, and he is on the closing hole, looking to eagle, he tries to curl it in, and it is close, but not close enough -- but it is in the neighborhood for him to get a birdie out of it, and he finishes at minus-10 and the lead.
But overnight leader, Marc Leishman is still on the course. This eagle putt would give him the outright lead at minus-11, but he just comes up short, settling for a bird and a share of the lead.
So Leishman and Harman are your leaders. D-J is a shot back. There is a trio of golfers sitting at minus 8. Former PGA winner Jason Dufner is also in the mix at minus 7.
