Tunisia-UAE Relations: Tunis suspends Emirates flights over security measures targeting women

Tunisia suspended Emirates Airlines flights after a public outcry over United Arab Emirates security measures targeting women from the North African country. An Emirates Airlines spokesperson confirmed the suspension.
A number of Tunisian women said their travel to the Gulf state on UAE airlines had been delayed. Some had been forced to undergo additional examination of their visas. The Emirates' envoy said the measure was for only a short period and the restrictions had been lifted. But the incident still triggered angry reactions in Tunisia. Local rights groups condemned the UAE measures as "discriminatory and racist".
