One dead, 22 injured after school stampede in China's Henan

One student died and at least 22 others were injured after a stampede at a primary school in Puyang city, central China’s Henan Province on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place at the Third Experimental Primary School at around 08:30 a.m. BJT (1230GMT), when some students were going to the bathroom.
The injured students were hospitalized immediately, with five in a serious condition. One student died on the way to hospital.
Despite earlier reports suggesting two students had died, the death toll was revised to one later.

Initial investigations indicate that pupils were crowded into a toilet during a short break before an examination, when other children began pushing their way in.
The headmaster of the school has been removed from the post following the incident.
A further investigation is currently underway.
