In Peru, hundreds have gathered on the streets of the capital, Lima to show their support for Alberto Fujimori.
The former president received a pardon on his 25-year sentence for human rights abuses by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski on Christmas Eve, a decision which sparked large protests across the country and prompted senior officials to resign amid a political crisis. Officially, the pardon was issued on humanitarian grounds, given Fujimori's ill-health. However, many believe it was part of a backroom deal struck to protect Kuczynski from corruption charges.
