In Brazil, heated protests have erupted in Sao Paulo. Residents' tempers over a price increase in public transport have boiled over.
Protesters attacked a bank and blocked the path of a bus. This was after authorities approved a fare hike that could see a ticket on the bus or metro cost about 7 real, or about 2 USD. Many students joined the march, calling for free public transport to downtown Sao Paulo to help with traffic congestion. Military police were called in to bring protesters under control, and a number of protesters have been arrested.
