Turning now to the Spring Festival travel rush, or Chunyun, as millions across China head home to spend time with family. Authorities expect nine-million train trips on Monday. The southern metropolis of Guangzhou continues to be the nation's busiest hub, seeing the largest passenger flow of about 1-point-4 million trips.
Traffic officials say the amount of people crossing the Taiwan Strait by boat will increase by nearly a fifth this year. In northern and southwestern China, snow and ice have closed some highways in provinces like Shandong and Yunnan. Clean-up efforts are now underway.
