The biennial International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) kicked off in Abu Dhabi on Sunday with special focus on disruptive technology.
China Defense pavilion, which covers nearly 1,500 square meters, is showcasing novel defense equipment, suitable to present-day needs.
Themed "Disruptive Innovation in Defense and Security Technology," the 13th edition of the five-day event is attracting 1,235 firms from 57 countries, according to the organizer Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC).

The use of drones, robots and digital solutions is increasingly being adopted by armies around the world, leading defense firms to develop new solutions in order to bring disruptive technologies to the next level.
Tanks, artillery, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicle), submarines, frigates, laser weapons and missiles are on display by eight leading military manufacturers from China.
Dai Ning, Deputy General Manager of Poly Technologies, said his company brought defense equipment of "new concept in new era," adapted to higher standard of modern time and future.

"The Middle East has been suffering from turmoil over the past years," he said, adding that "our major goal in the region is to help stabilize society, especially help eradicate terrorism."
Trading volume of military equipment on the first day of the event stood at 4.42 billion dirham (1.2 billion US dollars), according to the ADNEC.
