India has expressed shock after the fatal shooting of an Indian national in the US, amid reports that the attack may have been racially motivated.
The Indian government has put forth a vigorous effort in aiding the family of Srinivas Kuchibhotla who died shortly after a bar attack on Wednesday night.

Pratik Mathur, spokesman for the Indian embassy in Washington, said India had expressed "our deep concern over the incident" to the US government and requested a "thorough and speedy investigation."
Srinivas Kuchibhotla died shortly after Wednesday night's attack at a bar in Olathe, Kansas. His friend Alok Madasani, also from India, and an American Ian Grillot were hurt.

Adam Purinton, 51, a US Navy veteran, has been charged on Thursday with premeditated first-degree murder.
According to witnesses, Purinton shouted “get out of my country” before shooting the Indian victims, whom he reportedly thought were “Middle Eastern men."

Olathe shooting triggered outrage on social media in India and other countries. People spoke out of their concern that US President Donald Trump's "America First" position on immigration and jobs aroused racism and anger.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said on Friday that any loss of life was tragic, but it would be absurd to link the killing to Trump's rhetoric.
