Kiev's police on Thursday night reported an explosion which struck the US embassy in the Ukrainian capital. The embassy later confirmed it was not an act of terrorism.

An unidentified assailant threw an explosive device into the embassy's compound shortly after 12 a.m. on Thursday. 

No one was injured and none of the embassy's properties was damaged in the security incident.
