Mosul's residents register with government

In the northern Iraqi town of Mosul, thousands of residents are registering for birth, death and marriage certificates at a courthouse 30 kilometers east of the city, CGTN reports. 

The ISIL militant group, which had occupied Mosul up until early July, had their own registration system in place, but those documents are now invalid, and the residents need to register with the federal government. 

With ISIL virtually wiped out across the country, Iraq is now facing challenging post-war issues, such as reconstruction, the restoration of national order, and trying to bring Iraqi refugees home.
