Korean Peninsula Diplomacy: High-level talks begin in Panmunjom truce village

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea and South Korea are holding their first formal talks in more than two years. Five senior officials from each side have met at what's known as the Peace House. It's situated on the South Korean side of the Panmunjom truce village. The major topic of discussion is said to focus on the DPRK's potential participation, at the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in South Korea. Earlier, the International Olympic Committee extended the deadline for the registration of DPRK athletes.
