BRICS agriculture ministers meet in east China

Agriculture ministers from the BRICS bloc of emerging economies met in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing on Friday.
This meeting, among a series of BRICS gatherings across China this month, will conclude by issuing a Joint Declaration of BRICS Ministers of Agriculture.
BRICS groups Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The BRIC cooperative mechanism was established in 2006. South Africa joined the group in 2010, the acronym thus changing to BRICS.
This year, China serves as the rotating chair of BRICS and will host the bloc's ninth leaders' summit from September 3-5 in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The theme of this year's event is "BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future."
