A primary school teacher deliberately delayed the departure of a high-speed train in China's eastern Anhui Province last Friday. On Wednesday, Chinese railway police said the teacher would be fined two-thousand yuan.
A short video clip shows the woman keeping one of the train's doors from closing, sparking debate online. In the video, the woman is seen refusing to move despite orders from train personnel. The woman, surnamed Luo, says she was waiting for her husband, who was running late. Luo has been suspended from her job as a primary school teacher.
Chinese high-speed railway is known for its efficiency, convenience and safety standards. It can run at speeds of up to 350 kilometres per hour, and it generally only stops at a station for one or two minutes.
