Kenyan police have arrested six terror suspects in the coastal town of Malindi.
According to Xinhua, the six were arrested on Friday night when specialist anti-terror police raided a house. They are all alleged to have funded the al-Shabaab terror group.
Seven mobile phones thought to have been used for cash transfers to individuals linked to al-Shabaab in Somalia were also seized.
Malindi police commander Muchangi Matawa said that the suspects are being interrogated by anti-terrorism officers.
They are part of a network behind the recruitment of young people to join militant group al-Shabaab, according to the police.
Among those arrested were women who are believed to have targeted girls who are later lured to cross over to Somalia to become brides for al-Shabaab fighters.
Kenyan authorities are on high alert over possible attacks by the Somalia-based militant group.
Last year, the police warned that at least six al-Shabaab fighters had been dispatched from Somalia to carry out attacks on unspecified locations in Kenya.
The police fear the al-Shabaab militia is planning to use suicide bombers against key government facilities and public places.
