Looking ahead to next month's Winter Olympics, a delegation from the DPRK arrived in the South Korean capital of Seoul. The group is in the country to inspect performance venues -- as the country prepares to hold several art shows for the Pyeongchang Olympics.
There was a heavy security presence outside the Seoul train station, as the delegation, led by Hyon Song Wol, head of North Korea's Samjiyon Orchestra arrived. The group was met by about 50 protesters, who rallied against the visit in front of the building and burned a banner bearing photographs of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
This visit was rescheduled from last Saturday, which was supposed to include a 140-strong troupe at the Olympics, but was cancelled just before the visit with no explanation. Officials from the two Koreas used a cross-border hotline to reschedule the visit. This weekend the International Olympic Committee confirmed the DPRK will send 22 athletes to the Winter Games and compete in three sports and five disciplines.
