“We will share the technology of Alipay with the whole world,” Alibaba founder Jack Ma announced during a live interview on Sunday.
Online shopping and QR code-based mobile payments are all the rage in China, driven by high Internet penetration rates in the country and popularity of third-party online payment platforms, such as Alipay. According to a report from market research firm eMarketer, China’s mobile payment market is “nearly 50 times larger than that in the US,”
Ma said that the development of Chinese Internet technology has been far ahead than that of Western countries in some fields, especially in the mobile payment area.
"We are doing pretty well today, but sharing advanced technology with the whole world is still the most important thing we should do now. In order to spread new technologies in developing countries, we need to not only invest a lot of money, but also send our professionals there to deepen technical communication,” he noted.

Internet is not virtual economy
Ma said that Alipay is a bridge to improve the ability of the real economy to match the need of the virtual economy. He noted that Alipay should be treated as a means to help people use money more efficiently, boost the real economy and improve customers' experiences.

24-hour logistic services in China
In the future, it will take less time for Chinese to shop online. Ma said the delivery services of Alibaba, Cainiao Logistics, would provide all regions in China with advanced logistic services that will enable packages to reach their destination in 24 hours. “Even in some remote areas like Tibet and Inner Mongolia, it will take up to 72 hours to get your packages by using our logistic services," Ma said.
“We hope to spread this efficient service, the speed standard as well as the technology ability all over the world."
