Residents on the Russian Pacific island of Sakhalin continue to battle a ferocious cyclone, with strong winds whipping at 20 meters per second. According to emergency services, around 50 cars were stranded on the highway, and flights to and from Sakhalin were cancelled or delayed. Last month, an elderly woman was hurt after a snowstorm swept her from her balcony when she went outside to smoke.
