President Xi attends opening ceremony of Astana Expo 2017

Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of Astana Expo 2017, focusing on renewable energy on Friday in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The Expo is the first to be held in Central Asia and is expected to attract up to four million visitors during its three-month run.

The China Pavilion themed "future energy, green Silk Road," covers around 1,000 square meters and is among the largest at the Expo.

The China Pavilion will display China's achievements in developing and using energy through multimedia, virtual reality technology and other means.

Before the opening ceremony, Xi visited the national pavilion of Kazakhstan at the Expo, together with the heads of the delegations from other countries.
