At the 15th East Asia Forum currently being held in the Chinese city of Changsha in Hunan Province, officials and scholars from ASEAN nations and China, Japan and South Korea are discussing how to deepen the ASEAN+3 cooperation mechanism to achieve greater economic growth.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation mechanism. With the milestone, China is hoping to deepen collaboration with ASEAN in fields like finance, agriculture and poverty alleviation. CGTN reporter Wu Lei said China is also keen to explore new economic growth in tourism, media and capacity fields in the years to come.
The ASEAN plus China, Japan and South Korea cooperation mechanism was established in 1997, when ASEAN countries decided to enhance cooperation with other major Asian economies against the backdrop of economic globalization.
