Rural Development: China's Central Rural Work Conference to map out plans for 2018 and beyond

The Central Rural Work Conference is scheduled to take place this week in Beijing. The event will map out plans for 2018 and beyond. The revitalization of China's rural areas was one of the eight key working plans spelled out during the Central Economic Work Conference in the capital earlier this month. Officials are expected to stress the importance of supply-side reforms. The coming year is the last year of a pilot program that allows farmers in selected areas to mortage their land use rights and housing property rights. The Central Economic Work Conference also said China's countryside will be the battlefield for two major goals, the alleviation of poverty and the reduction of pollution.
