UEFA Champions League: Liverpool 7 - Maribor 0
[]
In Group E, Liverpool made the trip to Slovenia to take on Maribor. The Reds, have been slumping recently, with just one win in their last eight outings, but they would get off the schneid, in a big way.

Liverpool drew their first two games in the group, but are on the attack right away, the speedy Mohamed Salah sets up Roberto Firmino to slide it home. Lovely finish in the fourth minute makes it 1-nil.

The visitors double their advantage less than ten minutes later, as James Milner's cross finds Philippe Coutinho, who volleys it into the corner. 2-nil for the reds, who are wearing some kind of electric orange.

The hosts would be completely outmatched, losing possession time and again. Salah scores in the 19th and 39th as Liverpool take a 4-0 lead at half-time.

In the 54th, Coutinho sets up Firmino for a glancing header that finds the far corner. Jurgen Klopp's side lead 5-0. Liverpool in complete control. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold also get on the scoresheet. Liverpool complete a 7-0 rout, the biggest away win by an English team in European Cup history.

That win pushes Liverpool to the top of group E. Spartak Moscow thrashed Sevilla 5-1 in the other match in the pool, to join the Reds in first. The Russians are second on goal difference. Sevilla are a point behind in third.

In Group G, Turkey's Besiktas take control after winning 2-1 at Monaco. Leipzig edge Porto 3-2 to move into second with four points. Porto are third. Last season's semi-finalists Monaco have but a single point.
