After a win over Guangzhou Evergrande on Friday, 22-year-old rookie Cui Wei from Shandong Luneng played 55 minutes on the field.
Thanks to the Chinese Football Association's new rule to require at least one starter under the age of to be on each team's line-up, Cui Wei of Shandong Luneng is garnering attention.

The young midfielder gets a chance to show he can handle the competition among the country's top players, and hopefully earn the trust of head coach Felix Magath in the process.
The Chinese Football Association's new "Under-23" rule has paved the way for youngsters like Cui to get show time, which has previously been much harder to come by. The Shandong native has made the most of the opportunity in Luneng's first two matches.

Despite the debate over the U-23 regulation, there is no doubt youngsters like Cui benefit from the change, which helps a lot of them grow up faster than expected in this new CSL season.
