China has condemned a US national defense strategy report for asserting a "China Threat Theory".

In response to the newly-released report, Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesperson Ren Guoqiang says the report is full of false arguments on confrontations between countries. He says the report has a strong "Cold War theme". Ren says China firmly follows the path of peaceful development and does not advocate military expansion. China has been playing the positive role of a peace keeper and a development supporter in the global community. Ren added that China has no intention of playing a dominant role. The Pentagon document says competition between great powers, not terrorism, is now the main focus of national security. The paper puts China's rapidly expanding military and an increasingly aggressive Russia as the US military's top security priorities.
