2017 China International Big Data Expo concludes in SW China

The 2017 China International Big Data Expo, or “Big Data Expo,” concluded in southwest China's Guizhou Province on Sunday, with contracts worth over 16.7 billion yuan (2.4 billion US dollars) inked and 119 projects signed.

The four-day expo, under the theme of "Digital Economy Drives New Growth," attracted more than 50,000 visitors, with 77 forums tackling a host of topics ranging from digital economy and data sharing to artificial intelligence.

The expo was held in Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou Province, and attracted more than 50,000 visitors. /VCG Photo‍

According to Xu Qin, Vice Mayor of Guiyang, a total of 316 exhibitors, including 51 international companies, displayed their latest technology and high-tech products during the expo.

The event also saw the launch of China’s first big data engineering laboratory, located in the national high-tech industrial development zone in Guiyang. 

More than 16.7 billion yuan worth of contracts and 119 projects were signed during the expo. /VCG Photo

Tasked with collecting and analyzing administrative data, applying big data technology to government’s decision-making, the laboratory is expected to help improve government’s management efficiency.
