The Communist Party's 19th National Congress is a time for the party to evaluate its performance since the last party congress, especially the economy. Here's Owen Fairclough with more.
 
The 19th Communist Party Congress is a critical moment for China's leaders to set out a long-term vision for the economy. Four, in particular, have made China's economy more responsive to market forces. Here they are-in 19 words each. The late leader Deng Xiaoping is credited with a series of landmark reforms that set China on the path to what's called socialism with Chinese characteristics and opening up his country to global trade. President Jiang Zemin ushered China into the era of globalization by overseeing accession to the World Trade Organisation. He also reduced state control of industry.
