Special counsel Robert Mueller is investigating financial and business dealings of Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser, for possible entanglements with Russia.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, officials familiar with the matter said the probe is part of an investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in last year's presidential election. They said FBI agents and federal prosecutors have also been examining the financial dealings of other Trump associates. This includes former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and Carter Page, a foreign policy adviser.
Kushner reportedly held talks with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak last December. Reports said during the meeting, Kushner offered to establish a secure communications line between Trump officials and the Kremlin.
