Chinese Technology: China to increase support for scientific research

First up, a look at Chinese scientific research. China has invested heavily in scientific research in the past five years as the country shifts from labour-intensive manufacturing to innovation-led development. Vice Technology Minister Wang Zhigang and some of the country's top scientists answered questions from journalists at the ongoing national CPC Congress.
 
Wang said that technology plays a key role in boosting China's national power and its economic transition. Wang said that the government will strive to provide a better environment for scientific research and that technological innovation is part of China's national strategy.
 
Wang cited China's recent achievements in scientific research including advances in gravitational waves and quantum communications. Wang said that China will increase its support for scientific research over the next five years.
