[]
With the Winter Olympics now just five days away, the Olympic flame is drawing ever nearer its final destination of Pyeongchang, where it will light the cauldron at the opening ceremony in the traditional curtain raiser for the Games. Yesterday the torch relay took a trip to Yeongwol in Gangwon Province.
This is an aerial view of where this leg of the torch relay will begin, and some of the fine scenery that the flame will pass by on its journey through the South Korean county of Yeongwol. The relay would start off in a hilly wooded area before making its way to the road, where it continues on its fiery way to the urban center of Yeongwol. Various torch bearers would have their chance to carry the flame. In all, 7,500 different torch bearers will help the flame on its 2,018 kilometer journey in South Korea, which is now in its final stages with the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics set for Friday.
