The sister of Kim Jong Un will visit South Korea later this week for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. South Korea's Unification Ministry confirmed Wednesday that the DPRK leader's influential sister Kim Yo Jong, first vice director of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, will be part of the high-level delegation due Friday.
The delegation will be led by one of the DPRK's most senior officials 90-year-old Kim Yong Nam. He is president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, and a key figure in the DPRK's diplomatic activities. He is not blacklisted on international or US sanctions lists, as he is not considered to have contributed to the DPRK's nuclear and missile development program. He's one of the highest-ranking DPRK officials who is able to travel the world freely. Kim previously led DPRK delegations to the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. Seoul says it will provide "head of state" treatment to Kim.
