The Philippines confirms President Duterte will attend Belt and Road Forum

The Philippine Foreign Ministry has confirmed that President Rodrigo Duterte will attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing from May 13 to 15. Spokesperson Robespierre Bolivar said the forum is beneficial to the Philippines.
"Anything that can help the Philippines in its economic development is very welcome and we believe that the Belt and Road Initiative can be a helpful mechanism for the Philippines to promote its economic interests in the region,” said Bolivar.
The Philippines in April unveiled a plan for infrastructure investment aimed at boosting economic growth and employment. Bolivar said the initiative, dubbed "Duterte's Economics", has a lot in common with the Belt and Road Initiative, and this domestic policy may be discussed during the forum.
